product description
Aluminum Phosphide—Highly Toxic Fumigant: Aluminum phosphide (AlP, CAS 20859-73-8) is a highly hazardous, moisture-reactive chemical used in regulated fumigation products. It must not be described as a non-hazardous product.
Appearance and Formulation: Commercial fumigation formulations are commonly supplied as gray to gray-green tablets or pellets. Appearance, active ingredient content, and formulation vary by product and must match the registered label and specifications.
Moisture Reactivity: Contact with water or atmospheric moisture releases phosphine (PH₃), an extremely toxic and flammable gas. Phosphine may ignite spontaneously under certain conditions; this must not be confused with aluminum phosphide itself igniting instantly on exposure to air.
Restricted Professional Use: Fumigation applications require approved products, appropriately licensed or trained professionals, and strict compliance with local pesticide regulations. Aluminum phosphide is not intended for household or untrained use.
Handling and Storage: Prevent contact with water, moisture, and acids. Store in approved, tightly closed original packaging in a dry, secured, properly designated hazardous-material storage area. Handling, exposure controls, and emergency response must follow the product SDS, registered label, and applicable regulations.
Export and Transport Compliance: International supply is subject to hazardous-goods transport requirements, pesticide registration, and destination-specific restrictions. Product authorization, import permits, packaging, labeling, and carrier acceptance must be verified before shipment.
